Privacy Policy

Cafe Codex ("the App") is operated by Pallavi Duggal ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and phone number. This is stored securely via Supabase Auth.

Location data. With your permission, the App requests your device's GPS location one time to show distances to nearby cafes. We do not track your location continuously or store your location on our servers.

Local preferences. Your saved cafes, visited cafes, favorites, drink preference, and vibe selections are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data is not sent to our servers.

Nominations. If you submit a cafe nomination, the cafe name, city, country, and your optional comments are stored in our database.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect payment or financial information
• We do not collect contacts, photos, or files from your device
• We do not use advertising SDKs or sell data to third parties
• We do not use cookies or tracking pixels in the App

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting (supabase.com/privacy)
• Expo / EAS — app build and update infrastructure (expo.dev/privacy)

4. Data Storage and Security

Account data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). Access is protected by Row Level Security policies — users can only read their own profile. All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption.

5. Your Choices

• Location: You can deny location permission. The App works fully without it — you just won't see distances.
• Account deletion: Contact us at the email below to request account and data deletion.
• Local data: Clearing the App's storage or uninstalling removes all local preferences.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
